Andrew came up with a good idea, he said,

“Dad, why don’t we just drive from one capital, or big town,
to another?”

I thought about this for a moment -
The bigger towns have the best roads and are well signposted.

So that’s what we did - when you get off the ferry at Calais all you need is a reasonable map.
