The " Court " Scam .
.I first read about this scam back in the UK many, many years ago.
.
.Its as old as the hills but it still seems to catch people today.
.
.Heres how it works :
.
.As an example let's say a person has been caught drinking and driving.
..And, just
to make it even more serious, lets say that this is the second time .he has been caught.
.
.A person approaches the drunk driver and says he might be able to help him. .
.He goes on to mention that he knows the local police or a lawyer .and they may be
able to help him. .
.A few days later the person returns. .
.He tells the drink driver that he has asked that he be let off but it is too
late .as the paperwork is with the Courts. .
.However, he can arrange that the
punishment will not be a prison sentence.but a fine or similar. .
.The person goes on that this will cost 10,000 euros. .
.However, he does not expect to be trusted with all the money.
..He merely
wants half up front in cash, and the other half after you have the verdict. .
.Of course he has not spoken to anyone or arranged anything.
.
.The person is simply playing on the fear of the drunk driver.
..And ..... hoping that the drunk driver does not get a custodial sentence.
