Sleeper trains in Bulgaria

Night Trains

.....When I first heard of these trains I thought they would be a great way of getting

.....from Sofia to Varna (and vice versa) in the Winter months when there are no

.....direct flights from my nearest airport (Varna).

.

.....These trains have sleeper cabins and there are 3 cabins to each compartment.

.

.....When Christine and I use the sleeper trains we book all 3 cabins to ensure that

.....we do not have to share with total strangers.

.

.....I forget the exact price but it is around 80 leva, first class, for all three cabins.

.....Interestingly there is a Mc Donalds inside Sofia railway station that does not

.....sell hamburgers, it only sell sandwiches and hot dogs.

.

.....I once booked a sleeper cabin second class just to see what the difference was,

.....second class was only slightly cheaper but first class is well worth the extra.

.....The night trains usually leave the station sometime after 11 at night and 1 in the

.....morning. Its advisable to book in advance. .
