Real life stories about Squatters in Bulgaria

.

800 leva owed to the Water Company

.

.

.These two ladies first moved in back in 2004, shortly after the house had been bought.

.

.They did not live in the main building but in an annexe to the side of the building,

.in reality it was a room about 3 meter square.

.

.They seemed harmless enough and I let them stay in the house rent free

.(I owned the house then).

.

.They looked after the garden and were always happy to see me.

.

.During the summer months they always gave fruit from the garden.

.

.Lots of my friends that have visited Bulgaria have met these two ladies,

.they were jokingly nicknamed "the cheeky girls".

.

.When the property was sold the two ladies moved out (I checked to make sure

.they had some where to go to and that they would be alright).

.

.When they left one of the ladies gave me a bag containing all her old electricity

.bills that she had paid.

.

.I looked through them and the average monthly bill was under 2 leva.

.

.Yet when the house was sold the Water board disconnected the water supply

.the Water board said that there was a water bill outstanding of 800 leva.
